As the calendar flips to 2025, it’s the perfect time to reflect on your quilting journey and set some exciting goals for the year ahead. Whether you’re a seasoned quilter or just getting started, creating New Year’s resolutions tailored to your quilting hobby can be both motivating and fun. Here are a few ideas to inspire your quilting plans for the year ahead.

1. Finish Those UFOs (Unfinished Objects)

Let’s be honest—most of us have at least one quilt (or three) that we started with the best intentions but somehow didn’t finish. This year, make it a goal to complete a specific number of UFOs. Whether it’s one a month or just tackling the oldest project in your stash first, finishing what you’ve started is rewarding.

2. Learn a New Skill

2025 could be your year to try something new! Ever wanted to master paper piecing, longarm quilting, or working with curved seams? Make it a resolution to add a new technique to your repertoire. We offer classes, tutorials, and workshops to help you expand your skills. Find one that interests you on our calendar here.

3. Sew for Others

Quilts bring comfort and joy, so why not resolve to sew for a cause? Consider making donation quilts for local charities, children’s hospitals, or community organizations. Our favorite charity is Quilts Across America and we provide sewing space for volunteers throughout the year. It's a great way to not only give back but connect with your community.

4. Organize Your Space

A tidy sewing space is a happy sewing space. Dedicate some time this year to organizing your fabric stash, sorting your tools, and creating a space that inspires creativity. Bonus: You might find some hidden gems you forgot you had! If not, you can donate the fabric you no longer need.

5. Try a Quilt-Along

Quilt-alongs (or Sew-alongs) are a fantastic way to connect with fellow quilters while tackling a new project. They’re often paced in manageable steps and can be done in person or online. Plus, there’s nothing like sharing progress and tips with a supportive community! Our most anticipated one is the Women of the Bible Facebook Sew Along.

6. Work on Time Management

Let’s face it—life can get busy, and quilting often takes a backseat. Resolve to carve out dedicated quilting time each week. Even 30 minutes here and there can add up to big progress over the course of a year.

7. Invest in Quality Tools

Quilting is more enjoyable when you have the right tools. Maybe this is the year to upgrade your rotary cutter, try out a Stripology ruler, or invest in a more comfortable chair for long sewing sessions.

8. Document Your Journey

Keep track of the quilts you make! Start a journal, scrapbook, or even a digital album to document your projects. Record the fabrics you used, the techniques you tried, and the stories behind each piece. By the end of the year, you’ll have a wonderful collection of memories to look back on.

Let’s Make 2025 a Year to Remember

Quilting resolutions are all about making your hobby more fulfilling and enjoyable. Whether you choose one goal or tackle them all, the most important thing is to have fun along the way. Here’s to a creative and productive 2025! 🧵✨
