Driving from Omaha (about 20-30 minutes)
Take West Dodge Road west to US-275 North. It's a straight highway shot into downtown Fremont — minimal lights, no city traffic, easy parking when you arrive. Customers from Elkhorn, West Omaha, and the Dodge Street corridor tell us it's often faster than driving across Omaha. We're at 330 N Main St, right in the heart of historic downtown Fremont.
Driving from Lincoln (about 50-60 minutes)
Take I-80 East to US-77 North into Fremont. Open highway, easy drive. Many Lincoln customers combine the trip with lunch downtown — there are great options within a short walk of the store.
Driving from Norfolk, Columbus, and the surrounding area
If you're coming from north or west of Fremont, you're likely already closer to us than to any comparable shop. US-275 connects directly to Fremont from the west, and Highway 30 brings you in from the east.
Flying into Omaha (OMA)
Omaha Eppley Airfield (OMA) is the closest major airport to Nebraska Quilt Company — about 40 minutes from our front door. It's a well-served airport with nonstop flights from most major hubs including Chicago, Dallas, Denver, Minneapolis, Phoenix, and both New York airports.
Getting from OMA to Fremont:
The easiest option is a rental car — every major rental company operates at OMA and the drive is simple: take I-680 North to US-275 North and follow it straight into Fremont. The route is uncomplicated even if you're unfamiliar with the area.
Rideshare (Uber/Lyft) is available from OMA but the 40-minute distance makes it pricier than in a dense city — expect $60–90 each way. If you're coming with a group, splitting a rideshare or renting a car together makes more sense.
Flying into Lincoln (LNK)
Lincoln Airport (LNK) is a smaller regional airport about 60 miles from Fremont, served by nonstop flights from Denver, Dallas, Chicago, and a handful of other hubs. If you're coming from one of those cities, LNK can be a convenient and less crowded alternative to Omaha.
Getting from LNK to Fremont:
Rent a car at the airport and take I-80 East to US-77 North — it's a straightforward hour-long drive into downtown Fremont. Rideshare is available from Lincoln but the distance makes it expensive; a rental car is the better call if you're staying more than a day or plan to explore the area.
Omaha vs. Lincoln — which airport should I use?
If you have a choice, check both. OMA has more flight options and airlines, which usually means better prices and schedules. LNK is smaller, faster to get through, and worth it if the routing works out. Either way, the drive to Fremont is easy from both directions.

Planning Your Visit
How much time should I plan for?
Most first-time visitors underestimate the store. We're 20,000 square feet across a historic downtown building — there's a lot to see. Plan for at least 2 hours if you want to browse fabric and machines thoroughly. Half a day if you're serious about it. Many customers who make the drive turn it into a full day trip.
Parking
Free street parking is available on Main Street and the surrounding downtown blocks. There's also a city parking lot within easy walking distance.
Is there a good time to come?
Weekday mornings are typically the quietest if you want staff time and space to try machines without the weekend crowd. If you're coming specifically to test drive machines or talk to a technician, calling ahead ensures we have someone available for you.
Can I bring a group?
Yes — and we love it. Guild day trips, sewing bee outings, and retreat groups are welcome. If you're bringing more than 4–5 people, give us a heads up so we can plan accordingly. We can set up dedicated machine demo time for groups interested in seeing multiple machines side by side.

Things to do in the area
While You're in Fremont
Several great lunch spots are within a 5-minute walk of the store, and downtown Fremont has local shops worth exploring if you want to stretch your legs between the store and dinner. If you're making a weekend of it, there's enough in the area to fill two days — especially if you combine shopping, a class, and longarm rental time.
Ashland (20 min south on US-6)
Strategic Air Command & Aerospace Museum — One of the best aviation and military history museums in the country, with massive aircraft including B-52s and SR-71 Blackbirds on display. A genuine half-day destination and the go-to recommendation for anyone traveling with a partner who isn't a quilter. Open daily.
Eugene T. Mahoney State Park — A beautiful Nebraska state park with trails, a lodge, and an observation tower. Great for stretching your legs between a shopping day and dinner.
Downtown Omaha (40 min southeast on US-275)
Henry Doorly Zoo & Aquarium — Consistently ranked one of the top zoos in the world. Plan a full day.
The Old Market — Historic warehouse district filled with independent restaurants, bars, and boutiques. Great for an evening out.
Joslyn Art Museum — Beautiful Beaux-Arts building with a strong permanent collection. Free on certain days.
Lauritzen Gardens — 100 acres of curated outdoor gardens. Stunning in spring and summer.
Downtown Lincoln (60 min south on US-77)
Nebraska State Capitol — One of the most architecturally distinctive capitol buildings in the country. Tours are free.
Haymarket District — Historic neighborhood with good restaurants, local coffee, and independent shops.
Sheldon Museum of Art — World-class American art collection on the UNL campus. Free admission.
Memorial Stadium — A must for any Husker fan. On game days it becomes the third-largest city in Nebraska.
