What We Do

You make the top. We finish the quilt.

Our longarm quilting service takes your completed quilt top, pairs it with your backing and batting, and runs it through a professional longarm machine in a continuous edge-to-edge design. You drop it off. We quilt it. You pick up a finished quilt.

What You Bring

Your finished, pressed quilt top — seams flat, stray threads trimmed, no pre-basting. Backing and batting cut at least 8 inches larger than the top on all sides (4 inches for batting). Directional quilts should be marked top/bottom.

What Happens Here

We check in your quilt, verify measurements, and note any seam issues. Your top, batting, and backing go onto the longarm machine. We quilt your chosen design across the entire surface — edge to edge — then trim, hand it back to you rolled, or add binding if requested.

What You Take Home

A fully quilted quilt — stitching complete, layers secured, and ready for binding if not already added. Final measurements are verified at time of quilting and your estimate is adjusted accordingly. Typical turnaround is 3–4 weeks from drop-off.

Heads Up Before You Drop Off

Backing must be at least 8 inches wider and longer than your quilt top. If it's not, we'll need to sew leaders onto the edges ($15 per occurrence). Save yourself that step — measure before you come in.

How It Works

Five steps from quilt top to finished quilt

1

Prep Your Quilt

Press seams flat, trim threads, cut backing and batting at least 8" larger than your top. Mark directional quilts.

2

Drop Off & Check In

Bring everything to our Fremont store. We measure, check for seam issues, and confirm your design and thread preferences.

3

We Quilt It

Your longarmer loads your quilt, calibrates tension, and stitches your chosen edge-to-edge design across the entire surface.

4

Finishing Touches

We remove it from the frame, trim the excess backing and batting if binding was added, and roll the finished quilt.

5

Pick Up & Enjoy

We call when it's ready — typically 3–4 weeks. You pick it up, pay the final (measured) total, and take home a finished quilt.

Common Questions

Longarm quilting FAQ

How much does longarm quilting cost?
Nebraska Quilt Company charges $0.025 per square inch with a $50 minimum. A lap quilt around 60"×72" (4,320 sq in) would be approximately $108. A queen-size quilt at 90"×108" (9,720 sq in) runs about $243. Priority service is available at $0.035/sq in ($80 minimum) for completion within 10 business days. A thread and needle charge of $8 is included in all orders.
What does edge-to-edge longarm quilting mean?
Edge-to-edge (E2E) quilting means a single repeating design is stitched continuously from one edge of the quilt to the other, across the entire surface. The pattern doesn't follow individual quilt blocks — it's a uniform all-over design. This is the most common and most affordable type of longarm quilting service, and it produces a beautiful, consistent finish on any quilt style.
How do I prepare my quilt top for drop-off?
Before drop-off, make sure: (1) all seams are pressed flat; (2) stray threads are trimmed; (3) your backing and batting are cut at least 8 inches larger than your quilt top on all sides (4 inches for batting); (4) layers are kept separate — not pre-basted; and (5) directional quilts are marked clearly at the top. If your backing isn't large enough, we'll need to add leaders ($15) — easy to avoid with a tape measure before you come in.
How long does longarm quilting take?
Standard turnaround is 3–4 weeks from drop-off date. We'll give you an estimated completion date when you check in. If you need it sooner, priority service guarantees completion within 10 business days for quilting, or 3 business days for binding — at a higher per-square-inch rate. Call ahead to confirm priority availability before planning around it.
Can I choose the quilting pattern?
Yes. You can choose from our in-house catalog at check-in, bring a link to a design you'd like us to purchase ($15 add-on), or simply leave the choice to our longarmer. If you leave it to us, we'll pick a design that suits your quilt's style and fabric. Thread color can also be specified from our thread wheel, or we'll match it ourselves.
Do you also do binding?
Yes, as an add-on. Machine binding is $0.30 per linear inch at standard turnaround, or $0.40/linear in for priority (3 business days). You can provide your own binding fabric or we can use your backing fabric. We do not bind with Cuddle or Minky fabric. Add binding at check-in and we'll factor it into your estimate.
What if my quilt has a seam issue?
We check for open or weak seams during the intake process. If we find any, we'll let you know and offer to repair them for $15 per seam before quilting. Seam repairs are important — quilting adds tension to the top, and a weak seam can tear on the machine. We always notify you before making any repairs.
Do you mail quilts back or is it drop-off only?
Our longarm quilting service is currently drop-off and pick-up at our Fremont, NE store. We're located at 330 N Main St., Fremont, NE 68025. Open Monday–Friday 10am–5pm and Saturday 10am–4pm. Call ahead if you have questions about your specific quilt before coming in.
Is the price an estimate or the final amount?
It's an estimate. Your final price is calculated from measurements taken at check-in by our longarmer, not from measurements you provide. If the final measurement differs from your estimate, we'll update the total before completing the work. No surprises at pickup — we confirm everything upfront.
